Choosing the right size of boxing gloves

To guarantee your comfort and safety when training or competing, it's essential to choose the right size of gloves. Le Coin du Ring offers boxing gloves in different weights (oz), corresponding to their level of protection:

  • 8oz: This size of glove is suitable for light fighters (45-55 kg), and is also used in professional combat (up to the 66 kg category for professional fighters).
  • 10oz: This glove size is recommended for fighters between 55 and 65 kg and also for official fights.
  • 12oz: This size is recommended for fighters weighing between 65 and 75 kg. However, this is still a universal size that is recommended in most cases. It is suitable for both training and sparring, with a good compromise between weight and shock absorption.
  • 14oz-16oz: Heavier boxing gloves offer greater protection and durability for your intensive punching sessions and/or if you're a heavier boxer, (between 75 and 85kg from 14oz and 16oz for 85kg+).

How to look after your boxing gloves

If you want your boxing gloves to last, you need to look after them regularly, or occasionally, depending on how often you train and, above all, how much you sweat. If you look after your gloves, you'll reduce premature wear and tear, but you'll also greatly reduce unpleasant odours. Here are a few tips on how to look after your gloves.

Over time, unpleasant odours can develop. These odours are due to the proliferation of bacteria, because when you sweat during training, coupled with the humidity, this encourages the development of bacteria.

The first thing to do is to wear boxing strips or boxing mitts. As well as protecting your joints, they absorb perspiration. Make sure you wash your boxing bandages after each training session, otherwise they may become soaked in perspiration and soak up your boxing gloves.

Remember to take your boxing gloves out of your sports bag after each training session and air them out by inserting a roll of towel, for example, to allow as much air as possible to penetrate.

To complete these few operations, you can also use a disinfectant solution such as no stink, which is still the most effective anti-odour product on the market, or a classic textile disinfectant, which will do the job perfectly.

If you're looking for a coloured boxing glove like a Black, Red or even Blue boxing glove, or even if you practice MMA and you're looking for an open boxing glove, you'll find everything you need in this section.
